The FTSE 250 Index (INDEXFTSE: MCX) contains the 101st to 350th largest UK-listed shares. As a result, it contains smaller companies than the FTSE 100 (INDEXFTSE: UKX). The FTSE 250 Index was established in 1992 and generates around half of its earnings from outside of the UK. This is less than the two-thirds generated by the FTSE 100. As a result, the FTSE 250’s performance may be more closely related to the UK’s economic outlook.
