TopStep is down again. Two days in a row. At this point, it is no longer bad luck or an unfortunate technical issue. It is a pattern.
Yesterday’s outage was met with silence. No explanation. No acknowledgement of what went wrong. No clarity on why it happened when it did. No account resets. Nothing. Traders were simply left staring at an offline platform, locked out during key trading hours, wondering if anyone at TopStep was even paying attention.
Now it has happened again. Two consecutive days of downtime on a platform that traders are paying to rely on. That is not a minor inconvenience. That is a fundamental failure of service.
ProjectX being offline is starting to feel routine rather than exceptional. For a firm that markets itself as the best futures prop firm in the industry, this level of instability is indefensible. Traders structure their days around the US open. They prepare, analyse and wait for those moments. When the platform collapses at exactly those times, the damage is not just technical, it is financial and psychological.
What makes this worse is the complete lack of transparency. Outages happen, but silence is a choice. TopStep has repeatedly failed to explain why these breakdowns occur, why they cluster around peak market hours, or whether poorly timed updates are being pushed live while traders are active. Instead, the community is fed the same empty apology, as if repetition somehow makes it acceptable.
Voiding trades during outages does not fix the problem. It only addresses traders who were already in positions. What about the traders who could not enter trades at all? What about the missed setups, the lost evaluations, the wasted trading days? Those losses are real, and TopStep continues to ignore them.
If this firm had any respect for its community, compensation would be automatic. Free resets for every outage. Monthly credits if downtime happens more than once. Real consequences that force the company to treat platform stability as non-negotiable. Right now, traders absorb all the downside while TopStep shrugs and moves on.
CEO Michael Patak’s apologetic posts on X are no longer enough. Apologies without action are meaningless. When outages become frequent, trust collapses. When silence follows failure, resentment builds.
This now stinks. The community deserves better than vague statements and repeated breakdowns. Either TopStep fixes ProjectX properly and communicates honestly, or it should stop pretending this is a professional-grade trading environment. Traders are fed up, patience is gone, and the excuses have worn thin.
