Vodafone Group (LSE: VOD), Qualcomm and Xiaomi have achieved Europe’s first successful technical test of advanced 5G uplink technology, capable of peak upload speeds of 273 megabits per second (Mbps). The test paves the way for faster speeds and wider coverage in 2024, according to a statement on Monday.
Most current services only offer average upload speeds of 100Mbps. The enhanced technology significantly raises upload capabilities closer to download levels, whilst extending coverage and increasing capacity, the companies said.
