Popular trading app Robinhood has expanded its commission-free cryptocurrency trading service to the European Union. The company announced the launch on Thursday, allowing EU investors to buy and sell over 25 major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum without any trading fees.
The move comes as part of Robinhood’s efforts to “democratise finance” globally. Just last week, the company unveiled plans to roll out stock brokerage services in the UK.
Unlike other crypto trading platforms, Robinhood will give back a percentage of users’ monthly trading volume in the form of Bitcoin. This could make it a uniquely competitive offering in the EU crypto space. The launch also follows Robinhood crypto going live in Australia back in August.
