Entain (LSE: ENT), the owner of Ladbrokes and Coral, has reported a swing to an annual loss despite a strong performance from its US business, BetMGM.
The company’s shares fell over 5% on Thursday morning after it revealed a pre-tax loss of £842.6 million for 2023, compared to a profit of £102.9 million the year before. This was due to a 60% increase in administrative costs.

However, revenue rose by 11% to £4.78 billion, with BetMGM’s net gaming revenue jumping by 36% to $1.96 billion. Entain also declared a higher dividend of 17.8 pence per share.
The company warned that its earnings could reduce by £40 million in 2024, but said it is trading in line with expectations.
Entain shares are down 43% over the past year.
