Bitcoin (BTC) remained underpinned below the $90,000 mark on Monday, continuing to trade within a tight range that has defined most of December.

The world’s largest cryptocurrency hovered between roughly $87,000 and $90,000, with brief intraday pushes higher failing to produce a sustained breakout. Thin holiday liquidity has kept price action compressed, even as broader sentiment remains constructive.

Recent strength has been supported by renewed buying interest after a soft patch around Christmas, when US-listed Bitcoin ETFs recorded several days of net outflows. Those moves are widely viewed as tax-related rather than a sign of deteriorating demand, particularly with institutional positioning showing little sign of capitulation.

Derivatives and positioning data suggest large traders have begun leaning cautiously bullish into 2026, despite the lack of near-term momentum. Analysts continue to debate whether Bitcoin’s traditional four-year halving cycle is losing relevance as ETF flows and macro liquidity play a growing role in price formation.

For now, Bitcoin appears comfortable consolidating just below $90,000, with the prolonged December range highlighting a market waiting for a clearer catalyst before committing to its next decisive move.
